Welcome to the website of the Quintet Benefice

The Quintet Group of Parishes is a benefice in Norfolk, consisting of the parishes of Aylmerton with Runton (East and West Runton), Beeston Regis and Gresham.  We are part of the deanery of Repps in the diocese of Norwich.  The parishes of Beeston Regis and Runton are situated on the glorious north Norfolk coast, between Sheringham and Cromer and most of the parish is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely sand and shingle beaches and cliff top paths.  The highest point in Norfolk Beacon hill, part of the Cromer ridge, is in the benefice, and beyond it are the inland parishes of Gresham and Aylmerton, the latter encompassing a large proportion of stunning woodland surrounding the Felbrigg estate, now owned by the National Trust.  The parish has many campsites, caravan parks, guest houses and holiday cottages.  It is a busy place during the tourist season and a peaceful oasis in Winter months.

Of our five beautiful churches, all built of knapped flint, four are medieval and they house some great treasures.  Gresham and Aylmerton are both round tower churches.  Beeston Regis has a glorious medieval rood screen with painted figures of the apostles and at Gresham is perhaps the best preserved Seven Sacrament font in Norfolk.  West Runton has a wonderfully devotional Anglo-Catholic interior, while at East Runton the mission church of St Andrew (shown left) is a converted school room, a simple and prayerful space.   We work very hard to keep these buildings at the heart of community life and all of our churches are open daily for visitors and for private prayer.

We are a theologically diverse benefice and rejoice in that diversity.  In the course of an average week you will find a wide range of different styles of worship in our churches, both formal and informal.  Ranging from the splendour of the traditional Solemn Eucharist and the quiet devotion of Benediction at West Runton, to the simplicity and timelessness of the Book of Common Prayer and traditional language at Beeston Regis and Aylmerton.  The Eucharist is celebrated daily at West Runton and is the heartbeat of the prayer and devotional life of the benefice.  Enjoy your virtual visit to the benefice, but do come and join us for worship if you are visiting the area. You are assured of a very warm welcome.

Revd Dr Allan B. Barton, Parish Priest.
