Aylmerton is two miles from the sea and is one of the two inland parishes in the benefice and has a population of about five hundred. The village is rather now rather straggly and it extends north towards Runton along Sandy Lane. Much of the land in the village is turned over to arable farming. The village has a long association with the Felbrigg Hall estate and some of the most scenic parts of that estate, including a large part of the Great Wood and the beautiful 'Lion's Mouth' are within the parish. The owners of the hall, the Wyndhams, Kettons and Cremers were for many generations patrons of the living (a Rectory) and of Runton.
The church, dedicated to St John the Baptist, stands on an eminence overlooking the village centre. We are friendly rural church, not extreme in our churchmanship. Worship takes place every Sunday either at 9.30, 11am or 6pm, do check the service list on the website for times. All our services are in traditional language. We try hard to keep the church at the heart of the community, we host an annual festival and between 2 and 4 of the first Saturday of each month local produce and cakes are on sale in church at Connie's stall. During the Winter months the church is kept open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, but is open every day in summer. When the church is locked there is keyholder information available in the church porch.
